What They Said
Breathtaking views; not just down to Lake Trasimeno but eastwards across the Umbrian hills for as far as the eye can see. And we found the house a striking example of how modernity and attractive design can blend into a centuries-old structure. We basked in the sunshine that reaches the terraces and eating areas that lead down from the house to the large swimming pool. We can’t wait to return!

I returned to La Casaccia twice after my first visit! The first two were with “the girls" where we happily gathered on the terrace to admire the wonderful view over the olive orchards down to the lake. And when not together, each of us could enjoy the privacy of our wonderfully decorated en-suite rooms. We took full advantage of the well equipped kitchen, shopping in the neighboring village store which sells wonderful Umbrian foods. The village and La Casaccia, thankfully, are not on the tourist radar, yet all the tourist sites are just a scenic drive away. The third visit was just two couples. We woke to the same seductive fresh air and views, took wonderful day trips and wined and dined on regional specialities in local restaurants. And every day said to ourselves - really, we shouldn’t go anywhere, we should just relax poolside and savor the calm of La Casaccia Hopefully next time….

This villa is an absolute treasure! We immediately felt at home with the warm welcome we received from Carla and John, our generous hosts, who went over and above to make us feel comfortable in their beautiful villa. Experiencing this place first hand is better than even the photos suggest. We made use of all the well thought out facilities including the al fresco kitchen, pool, and outside terrace and bbq. The bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms are spacious, have comfortable beds, and are beautifully decorated with exquisite detail. The view during both day and night is spectacular. We highly recommend La Casaccia for a relaxing time away and to experience the wonderful region of Umbria.

La Casaccia - a truly magical place. It is the ideal place " to get away from it all" yet close to the lovely village of Castel Rigone and the delights of Umbria and Tuscany. We practiced yoga in the open air whilst feasting our eyes on the spectacular views. Absolute heaven.

When you leave the main road to start the dirt journey to La Casaccia its like starting a trip away from the headaches and the stress of hectic city life. But once you enter the drive way you realize that you leave behind all the nuisances of civilization but get to keep one of its best perks: comfort!
Every room is cool, the kitchen is fully equipped with every gadget you can think of and you have wifi to keep you in touch with the world. But you are immersed in nature.
As you sit at the table on the terrace of the main building the view is truly exceptional and your eye sees as far as three different regions. The soundtrack is that of birds, wild animals and gusts of wind. Having lunch there is a relaxing but intense experience.
The bedrooms are the perfect size, fitted with exceptionally comfortable beds and fully equipped bathrooms. The room at the end of the porch deserves a special mention. One of the doors to that room opens onto a private garden and an open view onto Lake Trasimeno. The porch is furnished with comfortable easy chairs and a few steps away is a hamoc strategically positioned in a spot where you feel like you are literally dangling over the panorama.
The beautiful outdoor living space with elegant white couches is a delight, especially at sun down with a good glass of wine and friends to share it with.
The pool makes la Casaccia a perfect place to stay also in the summer. Once you reach the property you really don’t have to leave except to pick up groceries. Its all there for you to enjoy.

La Casaccia is phenomenal! It was a great place to relax and view the beautiful country side. The home was gorgeous and accommodations incredibly comfortable. A short day trip to places, such as Assisi, Cortona, the famed Tuscany region, allows you to visit landmarks and other villages while relaxing in the comfort of a villa situated between the views of a stunning lake and olive trees. La Casaccia was a dream place to visit and can not wait to go back!! We will definitely return.

La Casaccia! Silence, wonderful views, tastefully decorated rooms, closeness to many of the Tuscan and Umbrian highlights … Why staying anywhere else?
We have been at La Casaccia several times and leaving has always been difficult. The house has been set up and furbished as a real home from home with every appliance and facility you could wish for. This house, surrounded by large grounds with olive trees, is beautiful and extremely comfortable, with several areas for relaxation both indoor and outdoor. The small village nearby provides basic shops at very reasonable prices. And for culture, sightseeing and a bit of bustling life, many pretty villages and small towns (Assisi, Perugia, Montefalco, Città delle Pieve, Siena, and of course Lake Trasimeno with the lovely Isola Maggiore) are a short distance away. But the house is also isolated enough to find peace and quiet. And indeed, we spent quite a few days while here when we did nothing else but relax, swim, read on the hammock or by the swimming pool and have a nice meal and a glass of wine under the stars. A perfect gateway to switch off, both body and mind.

We have had the pleasure to stay several times at La Casaccia. Why did we come back? The villa has a splendid location with an
almost 360° view over the undulating Umbrian landscape, with the Lago Trasimeno visible in the valley below. The house and
its annexed rooms are beautifully furnished and provided with every comfort. The extensive grounds around the villa boast
a splendid swimming pool, pool house and sun bathing deck, as well as a luxurious outdoor sitting area and a separate dining terrace plus complete kitchen facilities (barbecue, etc.).
For those who want to combine the quiet of a luxury summer house in the middle of olive trees with glorious views and the many touristic attractions nearby (Perugia, Arezzo, Siena, etc.): highly recommended.

We have spent many happy days at La Casaccia over the past few years... Each visit has been a renewed source of discovery and pleasures... The way the house sits on its hill, commanding that generous and serene view over an endless landscape, embracing the vast expanse of the Umbrian hills and Laggo Trasimeno to the right... The absolute peace and quiet... The choice one has to mingle with others at the pool, on the piazzetta-style terrace, in the wonderful kitchen or, to the contrary, to read and dream in privacy... And then the wonderful forays to nearby villages ! La Casaccia never disappoints!

La Casaccia is the most beautiful and relaxing retreat imaginable. The meticulously restored farmhouse is equipped original art, amenities galore, and a luxurious guest wing. All rooms feature bedding and linens from heaven, gorgeous handwoven carpets unique to each guest room (created by the supremely gifted proprietress!), and views of the glorious Umbrian countryside all around.
There is a hammock made for daydreaming, a woven swing for stargazing, stately cypresses stand sentinel around the property, along with groves of olive and fig trees. The air is perfumed with lavender, rosemary, and thyme. You may see an eagle soaring on the breezes, or a fox dashing over the hills. Have breakfast on the terrace where you can see the sunrise. Have cocktails on the patio (which easily accommodates a dozen) and watch the sunset. A state of the art kitchen is perfect for cooking delicious feasts.
The pristine swimming pool - with its own completely self-contained kitchen and entertainment area, in addition to an exercise room, changing room, and shower – is another highlight of la Casaccia. There are few ways to feel so instantly at peace, sloughing off stress, as floating in this refreshing water, looking up at the camellia blossoms and the clear blue sky. If you have the chance to visit this haven of peace and beauty, you are very lucky!

La Casaccia is fantastic. First off, the setting is perfectly secluded, high above the scenic valley below. The home itself is comfortable and cozy. There’s a wonderful, well-appointed kitchen, dining and living room. Our guest bedroom (with its own en suite bathroom) looked onto an outdoor sitting area with sweeping views. There’s nothing better than having your own, idyllic guesthouse to serve as a base for visiting so many nearby scenic and historic points.

Hidden gem in Umbrian hills
What a find and what an outstanding property. Carla made us feel so welcome in her beautiful home. She had gone to so much trouble to think of every last details, even baking us a loaf of bread for our arrival. I have rarely stayed somewhere so well equipped. Nothing was too much trouble for Carla, but her instructions about the property and the nearby attractions from villages to restaurants were more than helpful. The house itself was utterly stunning with amazing views, clean, comfortable beds and every last detail considered. I can not wait to return. Thank you for such a very special holiday and thank you for all your efforts.

When you first go into La Casaccia you will know at once that this is not an ordinary holiday let, but a family home, and you are lucky to be there. The house is really beautifully decorated and lavishly appointed - even hand-made rugs in the bedrooms! You will lack for nothing.
La Casaccia is an idyllic house in a beautiful part of Italy. Many of the well-known sites( and sights) are within easy reach, though you may find that the house itself is so comfortable it's hard to stir yourself to go and see them! Did we mention the views? Quite extraordinary skies, sunsets and sunrises - almost 360' - from every part of the house and grounds.
La Casaccia is a wonderful place for a get-together holiday for family or friends. All four double rooms are amazing (no pulling straws for who has the worst room - there isn't one). There are lots of seating areas around the house, pool and grounds, where you can gather, or be alone. Our advice is - take a comprehensive list when you go shopping, because once you're back at La Casaccia, you won't want to leave. (There is a well-stocked shop only ten minutes away in Castel Rigone if you have forgotten anything).
